About Oia
Oia is the image most people have of the Greek islands: cave houses carved into volcanic rock, blue-domed churches and terraces stacked down the cliff, all facing the caldera and the sunset. It is genuinely beautiful and genuinely busy; cruise passengers and day visitors fill the marble main street from late morning, and the sunset draws thousands. Come early in the morning to see it quietly, or stay the night and enjoy it after the day visitors have gone.
Why it's on our list
- Blue domes and cave houses
- Very busy at sunset
- Magical early in the morning
Opening hours, prices and seasonal openings change, so please check with Oia before you go.
