Rhodes Old Town

Medieval city·Rhodes Town

A living medieval city

About Rhodes Old Town

The Old Town of Rhodes is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe: the Knights of St John ruled the island from 1309 to 1522 and built the walls, gates, inns and hospital that still stand, and the Ottomans added mosques, fountains and baths. Inside the walls, cobbled lanes are full of shops, tavernas, small hotels and homes. Walk the Street of the Knights early in the morning, then lose yourself in the quieter lanes of the southern quarter.
