Buses on Milos are limited, and many of the best beaches are reached by dirt roads, so most visitors hire a car or quad. Local companies such as RAC S.A. have offices in Adamas and Pollonia and deliver to the port and airport. Book ahead in July and August, check what the insurance covers and bring your licence; check whether yours needs an International Driving Permit. Scooters above 50 cc need a motorcycle licence, and helmets are compulsory. Check whether your insurance covers dirt roads; some do not.
