About Getting around Spetses
Spetses is made for two wheels: rental offices in Dapia hire scooters and bicycles, and the coastal road round the island is about 25 km. Water taxis and summer beach boats run from Dapia to the beaches and the Old Harbour, and a small bus serves some beaches. Horse-drawn carriages wait along the front. Book ahead for summer weekends, check what the insurance covers and bring your licence; check whether yours needs an International Driving Permit. Scooters above 50 cc need a motorcycle licence, and helmets are compulsory.
