Akrotiri
A Bronze Age town under ash
About Akrotiri
Akrotiri was buried by the eruption of Thera in the late Bronze Age, which preserved multi-storey houses, streets and storerooms. Walkways lead you through the site under a modern roof. Some of its wall paintings are shown in the Museum of Prehistoric Thera in Fira, which makes a good pairing.
