About Getting around Hydra

On Hydra you walk. The town is steep and stepped, so pack light; porters with mules and donkeys wait on the quay to carry luggage to hotels for a fee. Water taxis run around the coast and to the beaches for set fares, and the coastal paths to Kamini, Vlychos and Mandraki are lovely walks. There is no car or scooter hire on the island.

Why it's on our list

  • No cars or scooters
